Optimat Publishes Its 5th Annual Report on R&I Partnerships Across Europe
Optimat has been involved in supporting the development of the European Research Area (ERA) since 2003 when it was appointed to manage one of the first joint research & innovation programmes between national funding organisations, known as Public-Public-Partnerships (P2Ps).
July 27, 2020

Since then we have been involved in a wide variety of policy studies, evaluations and support initiatives as these partnerships have evolved – their joint calls have spawned nearly 8,000 transnational projects with a cumulative value of Euro 8.5 billion.

We are now playing a key role in the ERA-LEARN project, which is an information and learning platform to support the community of national research funding organisations, policy makers and researchers with an interest in such partnerships, including the European Commission. Our main role is to monitor developments and provide support on assessing the socio-economic impacts that are expected from these partnerships. This includes the publication of an Annual Report.

In addition to providing updated statistics on the evolving landscape of partnerships, and funded projects, our 2019 Annual Report highlights examples of good practice from networks across the community as they seek to address specific challenges related to widening, multilateral collaboration, knowledge transfer and sustainability, among others. It also demonstrates the wider achievements of some long-standing partnerships as well as introducing newer programmes that are beginning to implement joint calls and other activities.

The report also provides an overview of the steps that have taken place over the last year in bringing the ambitions of the next generation of partnerships to a new level and provides information on monitoring and evaluation of European R&I partnerships in Horizon Europe.
