Insight

These webinars are designed to engage with NECCUS members and wider stakeholders around developments to mitigate industrial carbon emissions through CCUS, electrification and use of hydrogen as a clean source of energy. Each of these is essential if we are to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2045 in Scotland and 2050 in the rest of the UK.
The purpose of the programme is to:
- Raise awareness of new technology, economic and policy developments impacting the roadmap to net zero
- Discuss gaps in our current approach to net zero and identify potential solutions
- Capture stakeholder opinion on developments and remaining gaps and coordinate feedback to both Scottish and UK Governments
- Connect stakeholders to stimulate new business and innovation opportunities
- Raise awareness of activities in Scotland to a global audience, thus creating new opportunities for international collaboration
Webinars will take place on the first Wednesday of each month at 13h, beginning December 2nd, and will include a short update on relevant news followed by presentations from invited speakers.
The first webinar is Why decarbonise industry in Scotland? This will provide an opportunity to hear a range of perspectives from public agencies, industry and economic research on the rationale to decarbonise industry and strategies to do so. As this is such an important topic, the speaker list has been extended and the webinar will run for 90 minutes.
Speakers are:
- Lewis Hurley (Scottish Government)
- Caroline Strain (Scottish Enterprise and Falkirk Region)
- Karen Turner (Centre for Energy Policy)
- Duncan Wall (Diageo)
All webinars will be delivered through GoToMeeting. Interested in participating? Sign up here.
