Optimat is working with NECCUS to deliver its programme of monthly webinars. These are designed to engage with NECCUS members and wider stakeholders around developments to mitigate industrial carbon emissions through CCUS, electrification and use of hydrogen as a clean source of energy. Each of these is essential if we are to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2045 in Scotland and 2050 in the rest of the UK.
The second webinar is entitled ,Roadmaps to Decarbonisation‘ and will provide an opportunity to hear from three different roadmap initiatives:
- Mike Smith (NECCUS) – “Phase 2 of Scotland’s Net Zero Roadmap“
- Gus McIntosh (SGN) – “Hydrogen Network Infrastructure Roadmap“
- Martyn Tulloch (OGTC) – “Closing the Gap – A Technology Roadmap for a Net Zero North Sea“
The webinar takes place on Wednesday January 13th between 13h and 14h and will be delivered through GoToMeeting.

The purpose of the NECCUS webinar programme is to:
- Raise awareness of new technology, economic and policy developments impacting the roadmap to net zero
- Discuss gaps in our current approach to net zero and identify potential solutions
- Capture stakeholder opinion on developments and remaining gaps and coordinate feedback to both Scottish and UK Governments
- Connect stakeholders to stimulate new business and innovation opportunities
- Raise awareness of activities in Scotland to a global audience, thus creating new opportunities for international collaboration
