The European Commission has published an Optimat policy study on the importance of photonics technologies to support the low carbon economy and how the European photonics industry can exploit these opportunities. This study highlighted that photonics technologies will make a very significant contribution as Europe strives to achieve its low carbon targets, identified numerous opportunities for European companies and listed a number of key actions that will support companies to develop a range of relevant photonics technologies.
