Last year we began supporting some fantastic community organisations. These are all organisations that mean something to our staff either through the work that they do or the people that they support. They are: Young Enterprise Scotland, Glasgow Disability Tennis, MCR Pathways and Our Next Generation.
From this year, we will be developing a longer-term partnership with YES, particularly to support their exciting new development, Square Go, a game changing community start up space for disadvantaged young people who find it difficult or impossible to access business tools and resources. Square Go will provide free safe and collaborative spaces, employability opportunities, personal development, enterprise learning and support to nurture and harness an entrepreneurial mindset within people aged between 16 and 30.
One of our Directors, Deborah Creamer, recently met with Geoff Leask, Lynn Kelly and Mark Armstrong at YES’s site in Rouken Glen Park to hear more about Square Go and to discuss how Optimat can help to support the young entrepreneurs once the start-up hub is up and running. Lynn Kelly, who specialises in managing partnerships and projects at YES, had this to say, ‚ ‘thank you for supporting the plans‚Ķto make the opportunity for young people in enterprise as inclusive as possible.‚Äù
We are looking forward to more members of the Optimat team visiting in the summer to see how the Square Go initiative is developing and to start working with the team at YES to devise a plan of support for when the young entrepreneurs take up residence.
