Optimat, working in partnership with Iglooe Consulting, is delighted to announce that it has been selected by Jisc Collections to run a pilot programme to investigate how users at SME organisations use published academic research work and to develop a relevant business model for the future. Jisc Collections, role in this work is specifically recommended in the Finch Report.

The pilot will involve close engagement with two or three defined groups of SMEs located in the UK and a number of publishers of primary academic research content. The objective will be to establish, organise, facilitate and manage all aspects of SME trials to provide online access to journal-published current content licensed by Jisc Collections for the academic research community, undertake a usage analysis and make a recommendation for a relevant pricing model for SME users for continuing access to the content.

The pilot programme commenced in March 2014 and is due to complete by January 2015.
