Optimat are consortium members delivering a comparative analysis of potential options for a roadmap-based initiative on next generation computing for the European Commission.

The project aims to identify and evaluate the best potential research and innovation opportunities for European actors along the value chain of computing technologies and related systems and their applications.
In particular, the project objectives are:
- A study and analysis of the computing market in the context of its application areas
- The identification of stakeholders and the supply and value chains
- A forecast of existing and future services and applications and an identification of five visionary application scenarios
- A European SWOT analysis including Member State strengths
- The identification of R&I challenges
- Policy recommendations on potential programme scenarios based on their comparative analysis and impact assessment
